Bucket List was born from a simple belief: Sri Lanka deserves to be experienced the way locals know it, not through cookie-cutter packages that barely scratch the surface. Our co-founders, Avishka and Milan, grew up surrounded by the warmth of Sri Lankan people and spent years watching international operators overlook the hidden villages, family-run tea estates, and coastlines that only locals truly know. They knew the island deserved better, and so did the travelers coming to explore it.
With over two decades of combined experience in travel and tourism, they built Bucket List to do things differently. Every itinerary we design is shaped by relationships we have spent years building, with boutique hoteliers, wildlife trackers, temple custodians, and fishing families along the southern coast. We pair deep local knowledge with the kind of thoughtful, detail-driven service that makes every journey feel personal and seamless.
At Bucket List, people always come before profit. We treat every traveler the way we would want to be treated ourselves, with care, honesty, and genuine attention. If challenges arise along the way, we stand by our guests and do everything possible to make things right. Your peace of mind while traveling is always our priority.
Today, Bucket List operates as a boutique travel company by design. We intentionally take on a limited number of guests each month because we believe in creating a few exceptional journeys rather than many ordinary ones. Our reach now extends to the Maldives, but our philosophy has never changed: if we would not recommend it to our own family, we will not recommend it to yours. Because in the end, it is not just the places that make Sri Lanka unforgettable. It is the people.
